Key Responsibilities

• Manage executive calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements
• Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and take meeting minutes
• Screen calls, emails, and correspondence on behalf of executives

About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable Software Development Manager to act as a true “Player Coach” for our software engineering efforts.

In this highly autonomous role, you will be the core internal technical leader for software development. You will spend roughly 50-60% of your time hands-on—architecting solutions, writing code, and building internal tools using .NET, Python, and SQL. The other 40-50% of your time will be spent directing a dedicated team of 3-4 outsourced engineers. You will set the technical standards, write clear specifications, run rigorous code reviews, and establish a Secure SDLC from the ground up.

The ideal candidate is a builder at heart who enjoys leveraging modern workflows—including AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code—to maximize their own output and ensure high-quality, secure delivery from external vendor teams.  Previous experience working in the residential lending or financial services industry is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-On Development (The “Player”): Directly architect, build, and deploy new internal tools and applications. Support, optimize, and modernize existing legacy systems using Claude code, .NET, Python, and SQL.
• Vendor Team Management (The “Coach”): Direct and manage a team of 3-4 outsourced/contract engineers. Act as the ultimate quality gatekeeper by conducting strict code reviews, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, and mentoring external developers.
• Agile Delivery & JIRA Management: Translate business needs into highly detailed technical specifications. Manage sprint planning, ticket tracking, and workflows in JIRA to keep the outsourced team unblocked and highly productive.
• Secure SDLC & Process Engineering: Build and enforce Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes from scratch. Implement security best practices, vulnerability scanning, and secure coding standards into the daily workflow.
• AI-Driven Development: Champion the use of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate your own development velocity and establish guidelines for their secure use across your development pod.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with our internal IT, Application Support, and Data/Reporting teams to ensure new software tools integrate seamlessly into the broader technology ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 6+ years of hands-on full-stack software engineering experience, with a proven track record of acting as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or hands-on Manager.
• Vendor Management: Direct experience managing, reviewing, and accepting work from outsourced, offshore, or contract engineering teams.
• Core Tech Stack: Deep, production-level expertise in:
  • .NET (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core) for robust backend architecture.
  • Python for scripting, automation, or data-centric backend services.
  • SQL for complex querying, database design, and optimization.
• Process & Security: Hands-on experience configuring JIRA workflows and a strong background in implementing Secure SDLC and DevSecOps principles.
• Modern Workflows: Highly comfortable utilizing prompt engineering and AI-assisted coding tools (like Claude Code) to write, debug, and refactor code faster.

Soft Skills
